Biblical Counseling
To introduce our counseling ministry to you, let me begin with two core convictions. First, we believe in the sufficiency of Scripture. It is enough (in fact, more than enough) to help us deal with any problem or crisis we encounter in life. Even more than that - it is the very instrument God uses to transform us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Secondly, we believe in the sufficiency of Christ. He is enough (in fact, more than enough) to help us overcome any trial, any temptation, any sin, any life-dominating habit we experience. To sum it up: Christ is our “all in all”, that is, all we need in all circumstances of life.
Based on these core convictions, the aim of this ministry and of all our other ministries is to proclaim the Word and make much of Christ!
The counselors at Faith Bible Church are committed to biblical counseling. They have either been certified through the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) or have been trained by a member of NANC. They are also approved by the Elders of our Church to ensure that their character and conduct are consistent with what is taught in Scripture.
Our counseling offers help with personal, marriage and family issues. It is also available to assist those who are facing crisis situations - including divorce, marital unfaithfulness, suicide, child abuse, domestic violence, terminal illness, etc.
Since this ministry is supported by Faith Bible Church, there is no counseling fee. The only expense to the counselee(s) would be in purchasing books or other resource materials.
A question that's commonly asked is whether we counsel Church members only. And the answer to that is "No." We want to reach out to anyone who desires to know what God has to say in His Word about the need they have or the problem they're facing.
Another facet of our ministry is to train spiritually mature Christians in biblical counseling. We believe that counseling is a spiritual gift, given by God to those He has chosen for this kind of ministry. On the other hand, all Christians are to be equipped to encourage, to comfort, to edify and to admonish one another. An essential part of our Church's vision is to establish, not only a center for biblical counseling, but a counselor training center to promote biblical counseling.
